One of my very first portariats. Shot along the Northwest coast of Jamaica, about 30 minutes from my house. While I was out shooting for nature/sunrise early this morning, I was in the vicinity of a small fishing village and once the sun had risen and I was packing up one of the fishermen approached me. We had a chat, and he told me that they been catching less and less fish recently. He hadn't been out to sea in about a weak and when he does go out he only catches about 3 fish. It's so bad, he said, that he's planning on opening a small roadside shack and selling trinkets to tourists and giving up fishing altogether. I asked him if I could take a couple pictures and he was kind enough to say yes. I snapped off a couple shots, shook hands and bid him goodbye. But before I left I realized that we hadn't introduced ourselves so I turned back, told him my name, and he looked at me and said, "They call me Lucky."
